The next social will tentatively be held at Clear Springs Restaurant, 606 W. Afton Oaks, (inside Loop 1604 feeder between Stone Oak Blvd. and Hwy 281) San Antonio. Date is October 16, and time is 1400 hrs.
Meeting
The next meeting will be at the Clear Springs Restaurant, 606 W. Afton Oaks (inside Loop1604 feeder between Stone Oak Blvd. and Hwy. 281) San Antonio. Lunch (and Sea Stories) at 1300 hrs, followed by the meeting at 1400 hrs (on TBD).

P. C. Stryker Base Kaps4Kids, which made the American Submariner VOL. 2011 issue 3, page 23.
B. Bravo Zulu to those who showed up at USSVI Convention at Springfield, Missouri.
C. Larry Yano, webmaster, controls Stryker Signal website.
D. USSVI greeting cards (25 for $30) discussed; interested parties contact USSVI SK.
E. Sailor of the Year Award for Patrick St. Romain is being worked on by Frank Lister and the Awards Committee.
F. “Larry Yano: DVDs can be made for Conventions, Reunions, etc. The attorneys that make the DVDs can be contacted at their booth at the various meetings. Many families don’t know what their men did on the boats, or the significance of that work.”
New Busines
A. The October Social will tentatively be held on 16 October 2011 at 1400
B. The Harris Middle School History Faire will be held on 8th of October at 1000
C. Need your ballots on upcoming election of officers ASAP.
D. Veteran’s Day Ceremonies at Fort Sam Houston will be held on the 11th of November at 0930.
E. New Logo Concept will be researched and delineated by Gary English.
F. A “Tolling of the Boats” will be held this fall, and may be a District event.
G. Not many voted in the District 4 CDR election.
H. Kap4Kids volunteers needed on Friday at 1000, October 28, 2011 at the Main Lobby
of Methodist Hospital 7700 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio (Ph: (210) 575-7000)).
I. Eagle Scout Certificate for Tony Rivera was awarded for September 25, 2011 by P.C Stryker Base Jim Wallace.
J. New annual dues will be sent out this month for either Stryker Base or USSVI or both.
K. Member can get free business cards at www.vistaprint.com. Personalize your own card with base information.
Other InformationA. “Hands-on” projects needed for the Harris School History Faire in October. B. A “Tolling of the Boats” ceremony is tentatively set for Corpus Christi in the fall, and it will also be the Social for that month.
C. DOD is deleting Social Security Numbers for ID, new numbers will be issued.
D. Reminder, Tricare will be cut because DOD will not pay.
E. The Veteran’s Day ceremonies at Ft. Sam National Cemetery will be held at 0930,
11th of November, in the new section. If you need directions please contact me.
Will only need three cart drivers there by 0830, but Barry does need validation as to who will be driving by the 10th.
The uniform of the day for both will be black shoes, Vest (if you have one), dark blue or black trousers, white shirt(preferably with tie), and military ball cap.
