- Saturday, 20 June 2009 - Social at 1200 hours at the home of James and Betty Lou Mooring in San Antonio, TX. The address is 117 Black Jack Alley in Tierra Linda Ranch, Kerrville. Please RSVP to 830 895-2771 or bjmooring@aol.com. The Moorings will serve tamales, lemonade, and iced tea. Lucille Buchanan last night and she will bring chili to go with tamales. If you would like anything else to drink, please feel free to bring it.
- Sunday, 19 July 2009 - Business Meeting at 1300 hours at VFW Post 8315 at 1000 FM 78 in Schertz, TX. Plan to bring a salad, casserole, or dessert for the meal but call the meal coordinator a week ahead for an accurate head count and the right mix of foods. Beverages, meat, cups, plates, and utensils will be provided. Desserts will be sold to help raise money for the organization. Guests and children are welcome! Significant others, too! The situation at Seawolf Park in Galveston is grim. They lost
some of the buildings including the storage container of artifacts. Cavalla and
Stewart floated out of their berths and didn't make it back into their trenches. The Destroyer Escort
Stewart is listing dangerously to starboard. While the ships themselves look sound, a great deal of work
will have to go into restoration of the exhibits. Some of their volunteers are already at work and are looking
for your help. The Cavalla Historical Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not for profit association and donations are tax
deductible. They are selling IKE Recovery Crew T-shirts, in dark blue cotton, similar to their very popular
Restoration Crew T-Shirts. Please consider helping the CHF out with a direct contribution.
